  Colby Kansas Fly Fishing School
In April 2007, Tim Yager (photographer) and Kurt Moomau (kneeling far right) loaded up the truck and headed to Colby, Kansas to teach a 1 day Fly Fishing School at Colby Community College. Barry Kaaz (kneeling left of banner with ball cap) - Business and Industry Representative at Colby Community College felt there was enough interest in fly fishing in the Colby area and he also thought the College would be a good place to bring the community together. Considering Colby is in the far Western region of Kansas and not considered a fly water haven, the class participation was fantastic. Over 20 fly fishing interested individuals not only showed up to see what the class was all about but they all participated and everyone had a great day including Kurt and Tim who drove 6 hours teach the class.
We spent a few hours in the class room learning basic fly fishing history, where and what to fish for, how to tie knots, how to hire and use a guide, basic equipment overview, swapped fishing stories and then we went through casting technique and practice, practice, practice. The casting took place in the Colby Gym as the high Kansas Spring winds did not help out in the casting department.
The class was a huge success and Yager's Flies would like to thank Colby Community College for the use of their beautiful campus and the wonderful folks from Colby who attended and spent the day with a couple fly fishing guys who love to talk. We also want to say thanks to Tim Rajef and his company Echo Rods for their generous support along with Ross Reels. Everyone went home a winner we all had fun!
